Reese's Original Peanut Butter Chip Cookies

Another sleepless night resulted in recipe searching and testing. A few hours, a few burns, and 15 dozen cookies later I was in heaven! I made (and sampled) oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip, chocolate peanut butter chip, and came across the original Reese's peanut butter chip recipe (the new one is a chocolate based cookie). These cookies are delicious, definitely my new fav.

Ingredients:
3/4 cup butter or 1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups unsifted flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
Reese's peanut butter chips (amount of your preference, I use the whole bag)

Directions:
1.    Cream butter (or shortening), sugars, and vanilla until light and fluffy.
2.    Add eggs and beat well.
3.    Combine flour and baking soda.
4.    Add to batter and mix well.
5.    Stir in chips.
6.    Place by teaspoon fulls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
7.    Bake 350°F for 10-12 minutes.

Yield: 2 dozen cookies

My new toy

What every baker needs.... I don't know how I survived without one!
I got this gem for my birthday (thanks everyone!!) and tested it out right away with some yummy cupcakes. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures. Along with my new toy I got some new recipe's I need to try out. Yes, need. Here's the first, it's a chocolate praline cake with sweet cream icing. Yum!

wow

so it turns out i'm horrible at this whole blog thing. here's a recap of the last month in cake land (which, by the way, is filled with rainbows and gnomes).

here's the cake from my hubby's birthday. decorations courtesy of lauren at a fabulous fete. check out her blog here for more photos of the manly bash, she did an amazing job with all of the decor.

this was one of the 4 dozen baby cakes made for ava's first birthday. i think all cupcakes should be displayed in wine glasses.

hmmm..... i'm pretty sure the wine glass didn't look like this last night.

Mickey Mouse

This was for a 2 year olds birthday. Shaping the Mickey face out of cake was my favorite part.

Done and done!

Whew! What a long weekend. I am so relieved the cake baking for the weekend is done. I love doing it, but definitely felt a little overwhelmed trying to make three cakes, attend four events, all the while packing and getting ready to head out on our week long family vacation. Here are the results!

This was the dinosaur cake I've been working on...

Here's the butterfly cake...

And lastly, a german chocolate cake...
